DJ Style

Over the last 37 years DJ Style has been an instrumental part of establishing the Hip-Hop and R’n’B scene in Bristol, rising from the underground into a permanent fixture in many night clubs. The impact of his mixtape & radio shows is evidence of his talent and skill, and the reason why DJ Style is highly regarded as one of the best in his field.

He has also put his talent into running his own club nights: Flava of the Month, The Next Level, Code of The Streets, Then & Now and True Soul Survivors. B.I.G (Born in the Ghetto) Productions is the DJ outfit which he shares with DJ Fagan, who is also a regular DJ around the City of Bristol..

DJ Style is resident DJ for Code of the Streets night that has ran for 20 years, making it one of the lngest running nights in Bristol & the UK.

In 1989 DJ Style received an award from the late Diana Princess of Wales for outstanding contributions to a community group he set up called Real Deal Artists. One of the award panellists was Jonathan Ross who was also very supportive of the project. The group ran workshops throughout the inner city giving young people an insight into Hip -Hop culture through sound & visual media.

Building on his reputation and being involved with radio stations as far back as the late 80’s, DJ Style created his own radio programme from the success and impact of the Code of the Streets mixtape which started in 2000. It would then become a programme featured on a number of  R.S.L (Restricted Service License) Stations, and for the last 15 years has been a permanent fixture on Ujima Radio, Saturday 8-10pm.  The show has featured interviews with the likes of international superstar Wyclef Jean, RnB singer Brandy, Bobby Valentino, Carleen Anderson (Young Disciple & Brand New Heavies) Atman Scoo, Omar, Big Narstie and Hip Hop legend Kurtis Blow, Anthony Hamilton, Film Producer Menelik Shabbaz, TV personality Shaun Wallace from ITV Chase.

Specialising in his music preference of Hip-Hop, Rare Groves, Old School, R’n’B and Dancehall, DJ Style is also able to adapt to suit any other occasion. Due to his knowledge of the industry and his strong local popularity, promoters request his service and assistance events and consultancy roles,.
