Between the 80’s to the 90’s, reggae & dancehall dominance could be felt all over the world from pirate stations to dances from carnivals to tv shows, these two genres are as relevant now as they have been over the decades. DJ Style delivers a two hour mix of some finest reggae & dancehall tunes ever recored, featuring the likes of Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, Garnet Silk, Supacat, Freddie Mcgregor plus many more. Also included some 00’s anthems added in for good measure.
Sadly July Bristol loss two iconic figures from the local music fraternity, on 10th July Charles Augustus Bryan aka Delroy Ogilvie, one of the foundation members of Black Roots sadly died, he had been suffering from ill health, but his passing was unexpected. Then a week later on 17th July Joshua Moses (Stanley Bailey) also loss his life after being diagnosed with cancer last year. These two musician have played a major part in establishing the Bristol reggae music scene, and there influence and impact is recognised locally and throughout the world, there deaths will be a sad loss to all who knew them and everyone who have listen to their music.
On Friday 26th July on Ujima Radio we dedicated a two radio programme in tribute of their memory, and in recognition of the impact they made throughout the city with there music and the legacy that will remain for years to come.
